A slight drop in the interest rating...

by foliedevoix @ 2008-07-04 - 18:18:58

I know we've been having a lot of comments thanks to those episodes of Dr Who, and I thank everyone who has commented and joined - it's nice to see this blog alive again!
And I know this is't the most exciting piece of information, but I found another query on Random Shoes. Eugene's family all have Welsh accents, right? But Eugene sounds English!!
I don't know whether it's because the actor who played him stood out and was too good to change, or that Eugene is part English? I mean, wouldn't you pick up the accent that your family had? Some people could live in a place for years and not develop an accent, and some people could be in a place for days and start talking like the people around them. So do you think he's adopted?

Just wondering....and no offence to the guy who played Eugene. Or Welsh people....I love your accents! Or the people who wrote Random Shoes (see other queries (if you want!)), it's a very good episode!

More news coming as soon as I find something to write about - and if you want to post, then you can, just as long as it's not racist or dirty or nasty.

Yesterday's Dr Who!

by foliedevoix @ 2008-06-29 - 17:41:26

I'm not deliberately putting a post before on of our new members's - it sounds like you enjoyed Dr Who yesterday, ColourScientist! :D
I just thought I'd comment on yesterday's episode.
WOW! WOW! WOW! WWWWWWOOOOOOWWWWW! 88|
Ianto likes Paul O'Grady???!!???!! Where did that idea come from? :)) Oh well, everyone likes different stuff. :D
I'm glad to see that the remaining members of Torchwood are...remaining! Hopefully no one will be dead in the final Dr Who show - and anyway, it wouldn't be fair to kill off characters from a show that runs on its own...I'm sure there are people out there who only watch Torchwood, and I think they might be a bit peeved if there wasn't a third series because the characters were dead. I would be!! Kill off Ianto and Gwen and leave Jack to start a new group???
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :##
Hopefully that won't happen.
But, getting back to the episode...it was nice to see the characters doing stuff after Exit Wounds, it was nice that they mentioned Tosh!
So, if you haven't read the post below, read it now....because I'm not a blog hogger!

The votes are in!

by foliedevoix @ 2008-06-28 - 10:55:42

I said I would count up the votes on Saturday on the poll of Toshiko's ideal lover from this selection:

1. Owen
2. Tommy
3. Mary
4. Banana Boat
5. Adam

And the winner is.......Tommy! :P

He won with two votes, and Owen came second with one. Not the world's biggest poll, but it was enough to find out what the bloggers thought. :)

WELL DONE TOMMY!!! ;)

Tommy! :D

Whooo! :))

I will set up another poll sometime....

Memo....

by foliedevoix @ 2008-06-25 - 20:03:22

Just to say...I'll be counting up the votes for the poll on Tosh and her ideal lover on Saturday if I can - thank you to those who have made a comment! :)
Oh...and one more thing....James Marsters' guitar is called Malcolm!!! (That's my nickname and a complete coincidence, but I thought I should mention it anyway.)

IANTO JONES RULES! Whooo, go Ianto!

:))

4. There are posters in the next issue of the Torchwood mag!

And, very random this (but we like random.... )
5. The guy who played PC Andy did the voice of the monkey in that PG Tips advert!

Toshiko and...

by foliedevoix @ 2008-06-15 - 13:43:16

I've been thinking. ( 88| )
I was looking throught issue 4 of the Torchwood magazine -and issue 6 is out now by the way- and saw a little article on Toshiko's lovers. I know she's dead now - :'( - but, I was just thinking, which one would she have liked the most?
There was Owen, of course; Tommy, the frozen soldier; Adam, but he only existed because he put himself into her memory and their relationship never even existed; Mary, but she was an alien who just used Tosh to get home; and Banana Boat, but he doesn't really count because he fancied Tosh rather than she fancied him.
Poor Tosh has been a bit unlucky, hasn't she? The only one left alive for her if she was still alive is Banana Boat!! :))
Maybe we should take a vote, and I'll count them. We've got until Friday, and then I'll count the votes (if there are any!). If you want, leave a vote by a comment.
So there's:
Owen :P
Adam :b
Tommy :P
Mary :b
Banana Boat :P
So, let's find out who would suit Tosh best!

An idea....

by foliedevoix @ 2008-06-08 - 12:30:53

I read somewhere about someone that reckoned Torchwood is like Scooby-Doo. I think they're right! :??: Confused? I'm not saying they ARE the same sort of people or exactly alike, I just think you could put the characters from Torchwood into Scooby-Doo. And I mean the older series, not the ones with half of Scooby's family! :))
Tosh, she's pretty much like a Japanese version of Velma. They both wear glasses, they're both short (no offense Naoko Mori! You're not the only one...)- and they're both really smart. Gwen could be put as Daphne as she is the only other girl, though I don't see Gwen as being vain. And she kind of fancies Fred, which could be Jack! Think about it, Jack and Fred both admire themselves, are tall and boss everyone around. They both like flirting too!
Owen....well, he'd have to be Shaggy as Ianto probably wouldn't ever look that scruffy, and Owen jokes a lot of the time like Shaggy. He gets told off by Jack a lot, like Shaggy does by Fred. I'm not saying they're perfect matches, as this leaves Ianto being Scooby-Doo. In Captain Jack Harkness, he says to Owen: "Open the Rift and the whole world could suffer!" in a really weird voice, and Scooby-Doo talks in a weird voice too, even though it differs a lot! No offense to you Gareth David-Lloyd either, I guess it's just the way you talk. But it's cool! B)
That leaves the SUV as the Mystery Machine, which actually works quite well. It would be great if someone could make a picture of the team as Scooby-Doo characters.
And that concludes today's ramble....

Queries...

by foliedevoix @ 2008-06-05 - 18:23:06

I've been watching some Series 1 episodes with my friends....and we thought of something that doesn't make sense. You probably won't know anything about if you haven't seen Series 1( obviously!! ), but it's about Random Shoes (episode 9). Eugene's dad started working in a garage when he split up with Eugene's mum, and apparently according to Eugene's brother, "He works nights".
But....my friend spotted that later, when Gwen phones Eugene's dad to tell him Eugene is dead, she phones in the middle of day and speaks to him - and he's there! :??:
And a query from Series 2....it's about Fragments. When it shows Jack in 1999, there's this guy, Alex or someone, who kills the fellow members of Torchwood. And his reason was: He looked into a pocket watch that he was holding. But wasn't that what Professor Yana did in Doctor Who? Something to do with time stuff - maybe about seeing into the future?
I dunno, but if you can think of any good explanations, it would be good to hear them. :D

Latest on Torchwood

by prydwen @ 2008-06-05 - 12:28:57

Latest from Digital Spy

Executive producer Julie Gardner told TV Guide: "We've decided to do a five-part mini-series, one big story that will run during one week. I wanted to make a really big noise about the show."

Gardner, who confirmed that John Barrowman will be back as Captain Jack, remained coy about any additions to the cast following the death of two regular characters in the second season finale. However, she said that fans of the show "will be pleased with the casting".
